This has been going on for a couple of weeks. I think I have the problem solved and able to go to foodandwine.com, then a little while later I have the same problem all over again. No matter how I try to get to the foodandwine.com website I get redirected to this shop at home site. I have cleared my cache, history. But it always comes back.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

I had already tried that a couple of times and just cleared the history and cache again. But when I go back to foodandwine.com I still get redirected to shop at home site.

Then the issue isn't from Firefox.

At most, if you want to, reset it.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

I had done that once before and it cleared it up. Just did that again and it has cleared the problem for now. But, the last time I reset Firefox it worked for a day or so and then came back to the same problem. Will let you know if the problem comes back again. Thanks for the help

Maybe the issue is on the site, that tries to get money by redirecting users to the shop?

foodandwine.com is a very popular website and we have used it for a long time without any problems. Once the redirection starts you can't even get to the foodandwine.com site. No matter what you try. This popup shopping site is a rouge site and has no contact or unsubscribe link. Will continue to monitor and let you know. I am fairly computer literate but this one has really thrown me a curve.

Thanks

Hi steh140, websites sometimes are compromised, but more often it is software on your computer that is to blame. It could be an add-on or external software. One of the effects of a Reset is to remove your Extensions. Please keep track of what you add back and watch for any that get added without explicit action by you. To keep a record, you can copy and paste the list from this page to a text or word processing document:
