No, I am not having problems saving Firefox preferences. This is a problem saving preferences for the one web site TVGuide.com, which I assume is stored in cookies, but maybe somewhere else?

Anyway, I disabled all of my add-ons and tried again -- very painful as TVGuide started playing ads that I didn't really know how to stop. (My AdBlock Pro normally does that.)

Anyway, still no luck -- added "favorites" again did not show up after refreshing the page.

I found that TVGuide stores some data in cookies on your system, and some on their services.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Have you looked at their FAQ site as well? Also if your not logged into you account those settings also won't save either.

First, I apologize if I don't make myself clear. I tend to ignore points that I consider obvious, such as being logged into my account on TVGuide.com. After all, if you're not logged in you don't HAVE favorites, now do you?

Anyway, I don't know if I can describe everything I've tried, but basically it has been combinations of FredMcD's reply - I've started in "safe mode", I've cleared my cache and cookies, I've "reset" Firefox, started in safe mode after reset, oh, and disabled the hardware acceleration -- still no luck. Extremely frustrating.

Guess the next thing I'll try is to uninstall Firefox completely, manually ensure all folders and files associated with FF are deleted from the hard drive, reboot, and download and start all over from scratch. SIGH

Remove History For One Site

Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any settings.

I love you, FredMcD. Apparently doing the "remove a single web site from history" did the trick. Strange that "clearing history" didn't do it, but whatever, I now have my two new "favorites" coming up every time.

I _did_ do one other thing that I hadn't tried before, but I doubt that it was the problem. After adding my two favorites, I signed out of the account and then signed back in, but I'm convinced it was your suggestion that really did the trick.
