Automatically signed out and broke bookmarks and password saves.

Three times now this year, I have been automatically signed out of my Firefox account on desktop with no cause. No updates or data clearing to cause it. Every time when I log back in despite having my Firefox synced to my mobile app, my bookmarks & passwords all break. Passwords deleted, bookmarks dysfunctional. I try syncing to restore them. Doesn't work. If I restore from backup, it fixes my bookmarks, but not my passwords.

After the second event like this, I changed my Mozilla password, but seeing as this just occurred a third time this year, that didn't stop it. I reiterate: I DID NOT SIGN MYSELF OUT. I DIDN'T DO DEVICE MAINTENANCE THAT WOULD HAVE SIGNED ME OUT. Sync SHOULD restore these but isn't.

asterius, sorry can't help with the Sync issues. Just wanted to point out that you can backup passwords as well as bookmarks.

One method for backing up passwords is to export them to a csv file. See this article for more information: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-login-data-firefox

Although that is perhaps less secure than other methods, as the exported list won't be password protected.

Alternatively you could try Firefox's new backup feature, which will allow you to set a password for the saved data. See this article for more information: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-backup

There is another method for creating a local backup of passwords, although this is more of an advanced technique. This involves finding your local profile folder on the harddrive and, with Firefox closed, backing up the files "key4.db" and "logins.json".

If you are using a Primary Password, then this might be preferable to the first "export to csv" method mentioned (as the files will be protected by this password).
