My has husband has failing eyesight and has given up writing e-mails, primarily because he can't see what he is typing. I have gone to the setting options and changed the font to Arial Rounded and text size to huge and clicked ont the bold text button. However, the changes only last as long as it takes to write and send the e-mail. When he goes back to his Thunderbird program, all those changes have disappeared. How can I set them all to be the default settings in his Thunderbird program? Thanks for any help. --Myra

Hi all, we (our farm) have used SeaMonkey Messenger for mail since it evolved from Netscape Navigator.

Now as a perpetual donor to Thunderbird we have phased out Messenger recently.

We like the features of Thunderbird, such as the pinned search filter when moving between accounts among other nice aspects.

Help to resolve a feature never experienced in Seamonkey Messenger is that the default HTML font is never sent as composed.

I work in Times New Roman and when sent Arial is in the Body Text as Variable Width. A draft saved also reverts to Arial as per the attached image.

The Default HTML font is configured to Times New Roman and I can resolve the send format if I select the composition and apply the font from the toolbar, or use the ThunderHTMLedit to insert the font in the body.

My question is; How can the Variable Width default to our preferred font?

As previous, this doesn't occur when using SeaMonkey Messenger.

I have all the thunderbird data backed up. But how can I get it back into thunderbird so that it's working? Can anyone help me out with that, please?

I'm not sure but I think I had POP previously and not IMAP but I'm not sure. HOW can I find that out?

When I go into thunderbird's 'troubleshooting information' page and scroll down to the 'Mail and News Accounts' section it lists two accounts:

'account1' named '(none) 'Local Folders' using a 'Normal password' 'account3' named '(imap) imap.mail.yahoo.com:993' using 'Oauth2' authentication

Obviously the second account is the one that got activated after the yahoo authentication. It's the default account. But the first one is probably what I had prior.

I looked at the folders on my computer. There is a pop.mail.yahoo.com folder which seems to contain the missing folder/data right up to the date when I did the yahoo authentication that made it all disappear in thunderbird.

Does anyone know what I need to do next? How exactly, step by step (because I don't want to screw up more stuff), do I get that data back into my thunderbird account?

I just bought a Garmin smartwatch and signed up with them with my yahoo email address and synchronized the Garmin with my iPhone; now the emails I send via Thunderbird show the sender as Garmin instead of my name. Same thing with Fitbit: I bought my wife a Fitbit smartwatch, opened a account for her with Fitbit with her email address and synchronized it with her iPhone. Now her emails to me appear with the sender as Fitbit instead of her name. In both cases it changed the sender name retroactively ! So, no surprise to me now that I know but other folks must be wondering why Garmin or Fitbit is sending them emails. How do I correct that ? Thanks for your help.

Immediately after updating TB to Version 78.4 my email accounts with Earthlink and Comcast ISP's stopped functioning (incoming and outgoing). I have used TB for over 5 years and been running IMAP on all my email accounts with previous versions of TB without any issues. After trying fixes found on support forums (i.e. changing config setting security.tls.version.min from 3 to 1) I was able to get my Comcast accounts working but not my Earthlink account (which is my primary account). After 1 1/2 hours with Earthlink Tech support, I was told I needed to reinstall TB with the previous version that worked. For me this is unacceptable. Why use a specific Email client if new versions do'nt work with my ISP's or I need to tweak config files. This should all be transparent to the user. Can anyone help me with fixing my problem. Thanks.

Yesterday (10/22/2020) I received an update from Thunderbird. Once it installed, I was suddenly no longer able to receive email. I kept getting "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.server". I didn't change any settings after the update. I wish I could go back to the previous version.

I know I can access my emails through mail.google.com, but of course, Thunderbird is more efficient to use.

I have a pop server email address and need to bring in new emails from an Office 365 email address using Thunderbird on Windows 10. Both email addresses are identical. The current pop server email address has many folders and subfolders with emails in them. I'm told that when I bring in the new emails, it will delete the current emails. Current setting attached. It is 1 of 3 email addresses I have set up in Thunderbird. Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I have had this problem for a long time. I have several Gmail accounts I connect to with Thunderbird via IMAP. In general, things are working, I can list my inbox, read and reply to mail and delete mail.

But when I attempt to delete multiple messages quickly, I eventually see a an "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com" dialog pop up.

If I let Thunderbird sit for a little while, it will all clear itself up, and the messages eventually get deleted.

I have tried enabling IMAP logging with TB but did not see anything very useful.

I deleted some old non OAUTH2 saved passwords but that didn't appear to help either.

I am looking for advice or suggestions on what I can do?

I am having trouble sending emails from Thunderbird after changing my mail server's hosting provider and reconfiguring the existing email accounts.

POP3 works fine, but SMTP does not. I keep getting the following error:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: "The use of IP (xx.xx.xx.xx) in HELO is forbidden!". Please check the message recipient "yyy@gmail.com" and try again.

Same message appears if I try to send to other email addresses, not just Gmail.

The IP address here is the actual IP address of my mail server.

In my SMTP settings, I use the most basic settings: port 25, mail.domain.tld, No authentication + Password transmitted insecurely. I also tried various other options, including port 465, SSL/TLS, Normal password / Encrypted password. I am using the settings as suggested by the hosting provider.

The mail server has DMARC and DKIM activated.

My hosting provider's support says that the issue is with Thunderbird configured incorrectly using the IP address instead of mail server name, but I never entered the IP address anywhere. I believe Thunderbird resolves the mail server name to the said IP address and sends that in the HELO.

Can you advise where this message comes from (my mail server or the mail server of the recipient) and what I can do to fix this?

The images show as attachments (which can be opened) and are also visible at the bottom of message but not with the captions. If I open the message In Gmail the images show in the body of the message. In View I have "Display Attachments Inline" checked, "Message Body As" is set to Original HTML, and in options I allow remote content.
