I have a consistent issue where moving a folder with its emails to a subfolder makes it so I can't see the contents of the emails. It also causes the same thing on all other folders.

Repairing folders doesn't seem to fix it. Closing then restarting TBird fixes it. Is there some other way to do this?

For the second time today, I lost the entire body of a rather detailed email I was composing for two different glitches. When I started to reconstruct the first I was hitting cntl-S frequently. I relaxed a little for the second and was about to save, but I got a message about the attachment from my drive that I was forwarding, and the entire body was again lost.

From the posts I've read, it appears I'm not alone. Unclear what triggers the saving of a draft, but is there a way to increase the frequency? Between the two I lost today, I wasted over an hour and lost some of the original thinking.

I searched the setting help, but didn't find anything.

Within the past day or so, which means 7-18-26 or later, some of my email messages on thunderbird for my pc have a "From" description that is not correct. I look at the messages, and the "From" is entirely different than the "From" description when looking at the email message list. I have never encountered this problem before. I'm using thunderbird 152.0.1 64-bit on my pc.

I've asked this question before, but have gotten no response. Maybe I'm not explaining it clearly enough. I will try again. When I name a new file folder, how do I get it in the correct alphabetical order? I end up making it a subfolder in under another incorrect folder or it does not get in correct alphabetical order. I hope this is clearer to understand. I just don't know how to make it any plainer. Thank you for your kind response.

When I was cleaning up my folders in inbox, I moved a folder and all of the emails and sub folders disappeared. When I open it in troubleshooting mode they are there. What should I do?

I'm new to Thunderbird so can you explain what is the status of a Local Folder, please. Does it count against the email allowance? and How can I move emails from a Local Folder back to the main folders, please?

I wish the subject line in an email would be editable ala Office Outlook. I make frequent online orders and the acknowledgment emails often simply have a subject line such as, 'Thanks for your Order' 'Order delivered' 'We got your Order'. That tells me very little. If I could add something like, 'Best Buy - backup ups battery', 'eBay - head phones', 'Walmart - house wares' that would make life much simpler. --Don

Each time I open TBird, I get a message at the bottom left of the screen telling me that TBird has deleted X number of messages. I do not want TBird to ever delete any messages. How do I turn this automatic delete function off?

Hello, I started using Thunderbird in order to be able to manage all my email accounts from one place and I stumbled to one problem. I have 6 different email accounts and all are created by me.

I know that I cannot add a Proton account as it requires a paid service from Proton that I don't need as I use it only as a backup account in order to be able to recover the other 5 ones.

My Yahoo account added successfully without any problems as my 2 Google ones.

My primary outlook was added successfully by using the simple add account setup. The problem started when I was trying to add my second outlook account. Everything I tried it always gives me an error that says "Authentication error. Unable to login at server. Probably wrong configuration , username or password." I know for a fact that the username and password are correct as when I start to add the account it displays a prompt on my phone to verify the connection. But at the last step it says the error I mentioned. I even tried to clear all cookies and passwords and tries again but without any success. I compared the configuration of the 1st outlook one to the 2nd and they were correct. Correct hostnames, security etc.

I also checked the account settings in of the emails on the providers page and the only difference is that in the 2nd I haven't enabled the 2FF authentication.

What am I doing wrong?

Hallo, ich habe gesehen dass ältere Mails in meinem Posteingang zwar noch von der Überschrift vorhanden waren aber wenn ich drauf klickte waren die Mail leer, ohne Inhalt. Ich habe dann den Rechtsklick gemacht und auf reparieren gedrückt - jetzt sind diese Mails ganz aus dem Posteingang verschwunden!

Ich hab nun im Internet ein bisschen gelesen, da wird davon gesprochen die msf (?) datei zu suchen und diese zu löschen. Und beim neuen öffnen von Thundermail würden dann die Mails alle geladen werden...Ehrlich, da traue ich mich nicht so wirklich dran, löschen hört sich immer so "böse" an...

Zur Verdeutlichung: ich habe den reinen Posteingangsordner und in diesem Posteingangsordner liegen viele Unterordner als seperate Ordner. Und eben diese separten Ordner die als Unterordner im Posteingangsordern sind dürfen NICHT gelöscht werden!

Also Hände davon lassen oder kann da nichts passieren?

I have two email addresses on Thunderbird: [redacted] @gmail.com and [redacted] @gmail.com which I use regularly. Recently, when trying to open these accounts, I have found that I am unable to do so but that when I click on the Thunderbird icon, I get a mall box with various symbols on it, none of which helps to open my inboxes. Windooze 11. TBird 152.0 installed on June 20th. Now it seems like TBird is not displaying HTML emails properly. They are displayed but not at the beginning. The first line is sometimes just the bottom half of a sentence in the email (if that makes sense). I can't scroll back to the beginning. If I go to outlook and display the same email it displays fine.

Did something change in 152.0 to cause this?

My Sent folder is empty, but I did not empty it. Test messages are not being saved in it. I tried making a Sent folder under Local folders and directing Sent items to it. They do not arrive there, either. What may have gone wrong?? email me at [redacted from public] @alum.mit.edu

Apologies if this is going over old ground. I've tried the usual Repair Folder fix without success and I'm cautious about trying anything further without some expert input for fear of doing more damage.

Thunderbird version: 140.12.1esr (64-bit) Windows version: 11 Server type: POP, messages not left on server Inbox " Folder properties" reports: 16384 messages. 13.8GB on disk

The Entire contents of Inbox disappeared after the following sequence of actions: 1. Tagging a selection of messages (in Inbox). 2. Making only those tagged messages visible (using Quick Filter). 3. Selecting all of the visible messages (select first, shift-select last). 4. Deleting the selected messages (Del key) The intended messages were successfully moved to the Deleted folder.

The Inbox now appeared empty. At this point only tagged messages were set to be visible but these had been deleted so an empty Inbox pane seemed correct. Resetting the tags visibility of Quick Filter did not make the messages reappear.

The messages are however visible and openable when doing either a straight folder search or when using a search folder. Inbox Folder Properties reports that the messages are still present and the reported size on disk seems appropriate for the number of messages.

Messages in all of the other folders are visible.

At this point I did a complete Export of the profile. When I discovered that Windows would not recognise the resulting .zip file I also did a straight copy of the Inbox file within the profile folder to a safe location (I understand that the export .zip file is intended for re-import to Thunderbird and that Windows might not recognise it).

I then did a Repair Folder (within Folder Properties dialogue). This made no difference although the size of the Inbox.msf file reduced dramatically (I didn't make a note of the before and after sizes).

I then quit and restarted Thunderbird several times. This at first made no difference. After perhaps 3 or 4 restarts however a relatively small number of files have reappeared in Inbox (a tiny percentage of the correct total). Curiously, most of these (but not all) are marked as spam. Ordinarily I would delete all messages marked as spam but there are probably some that I have missed. It looks rather as if the files which are now visible in Inbox are ALL of the spam messages plus a handful of others. Of the 172 messages which are now visible they were initially correctly reported in the folder pane as being 172 unread messages.

Another strange thing is that when selecting the Inbox on the folder pane, the small number of messages which become visible only appear after a delay of perhaps 10 seconds (previously this was instantaneous). When selecting any other folder, the messages are displayed instantly.

I'm not quite sure what best to do next. I haven't yet tried deleting the Inbox.msf file. Any wisdom will be gratefully received.
