Deleted emails in Thunderbird staying on server

I've searched all over and a lot of the info seems to be pertaining to previous versions. When I delete an email from my PC/Thunderbird into trash, it remains on the server if I check my email from my phone. I don't see any feature that mentions specifically what to do with deleted emails either in settings or account settings. Using an IMAP server.

I suggest you first log onto the account on website to verify that the messages are still there. I also suggest that you verify that the phone is using IMAP.

Yes, when deleted in TB (PC) they are still on the server, when deleted from the phone (not TB) they are gone. Both are IMAP.

Well, i'm not the technical expert here, but if you share the email provider (such as gmail) and a screenshot of your server settings pane, someone may have suggestions.
