The latest example is the button to sign into LinkedIn. It is not working in Firefox, but it does in other browsers. I have other examples just from today. I have used firefox as default for many years. I assume this is a security thing, but these are basic links. I have no add-ons or other complications. Most times, I do not even realize there is a problem, but when I feel something is wrong, I try another browser and it works. Thank you.

I don't think that is the problem. I think it's something with firefoxes hightened security.

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What are the exact error messages?

Hi Fred. Nothing happens. The link is inactive. There are no error messages. Like many other times, nothing happens, while it does happen if I do the same thing in another browser. Many times I do not even realize I've been blocked. Thank you

I was looking at a daily itinerary on a travel site. There is a button to open the detail for all days. It did nothing in Firefox but it worked in chrome. The American airlines site did not fully work to fine fares in Firefox. It only have partial information. I did not understand at first the the problem was the browser. Many issues like these. Thank you

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

I only have DuckDuckGo Privacy essentials and Cisco Webex for extensions. Today LinkedIn is still not live, but the travel site is now expanding the content. I am hesitant to clear all the data, as I do not think that is the problem, and then I am left with losing all the info in open tabs. thank you.
