Lately, firefox has been unable to connect with proxy server on start-up. I reset in advanced options to auto-detect and it works fine. Upon restart of Firefox, the same thing happens. What has changed?

If your settings change after you exit and restart Firefox, it could be due to a user.js settings file. Could you try the steps in this article: How to fix preferences that won't save.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
