why is Firefox 3.6 epeatingly asking to upgrade Firefox 3.6?

I am repeatedly asked if I want to allow Mozilla to alter my settings. I accept, then get the greetings from Firefox 3.6 upgrade. Frequently when I turn on the computer, it asks me again if I want to allow Mozilla to alter my settings. I say yes, and get the welcome to 3.6 again.
