I just launched Firefox and was greeted with an advertisement for Firefox. The URL was https://www.firefox.com/en-US/m/friends/

Other than bringing myself back to a different browser, is there a way to block Firefox's own advertisements.

Click the menu button and select Settings. In the General panel, go down to the Browsing section. Uncheck the box next to Recommend extensions as you browse and the box next to Recommend features as you browse (both must be unchecked).
