Since your upgrade Thunderbird is soooo slow. Every time I work I have to wait for the blue circle to complete its course as it says not responding. You were so much better than Outlook and now it is not the case. I wanted to make a donation but not until you resolve this issue. My company will not use Thunderbird as your capacity is limited I pay for my own use as I have been faithful to you for 7-years Please-Please resolve this issue. Looking forward to happier times

Please check tools > activity manager to see what activity is in progress. Also try disabling the status bar by doing view > toolbars > uncheck status bar.

There are other possibilities if these do not help.
