Sign in Sync loop inssue
Reinstalled Firefox after a computer upgrade and now I'm stuck with a disconnected account and a sync loop. I login and it shows login confirmed but I look in the top right corner where you access your account and it shows that it's disconnected. On top of that, I backed up all of my tabs, favorites and passwords but I don't have the ability to import it from the back up. I'm only given the options to import from another browser. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Hello SGTDRE,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your issue. I understand that you have reinstalled Firefox after a computer upgrade and are now experiencing a sign-in sync loop, as well as a disconnected account. Additionally, you are unable to import your tabs, favorites, and passwords from your backup.
To troubleshoot this issue, I recommend the following steps:
Clear Sync data: Start by clearing your Sync data to ensure a clean slate for the synchronization process. Go to "Options" or "Preferences" in Firefox, then select "Privacy & Security" and scroll down to the "Sync" section. Click on "Clear" to remove all synced data.
Sign out and sign back in: Sign out of your Firefox account completely and then sign back in to establish a fresh connection. Go to "Options" or "Preferences," select "Firefox Account," and click on "Sign Out." After that, sign back in with your account credentials.
Reset Firefox profile: Sometimes, issues with the Firefox profile can cause syncing problems. You can try creating a new profile or refreshing your existing profile. Here's how:
Type "about:profiles" in the address bar and press Enter. Under "Create a New Profile," click on "Create a New Profile" button. Follow the prompts to create a new profile, and then switch to the new profile. Test if the sync issue persists with the new profile. Check your network connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection and that there are no network restrictions or firewalls blocking the sync process. You can try connecting to a different network or temporarily disabling any security software or VPN.
Import backup data: To import your tabs, favorites, and passwords from your backup, you can try the following steps:
In Firefox, go to "Options" or "Preferences," select "Privacy & Security," and scroll down to the "Profiles" section. Click on "Manage Your Profile" and then select "Restore" to restore your profile from the backup location. Follow the prompts to complete the restoration process. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, please provide more details about your setup, including the version of Firefox you are using, the operating system, and any specific error messages you encounter. This will help us further investigate and assist you better.
I hope these suggestions help resolve your sync loop issue and reconnect your account successfully. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask.
Best regards, Suram Firefox Support Volunteer
Hello suram080
I tried the options you gave me and it appears that my account is FubarD, nothing worked and yet my daughter just created an account and the sync processed with zero issues. If I remove my account I will loose anything that has been synced already, correct? See attached images when try to go to sync, im taken to a login page and I so and nothing else happens. it's just an endless login loop and with a disconnected account message.
The only other way for me to show what is happening is to screen record what I'm seeing and what is happening.
Appreciate the assist.

You can copy certain files with Firefox closed from another profile folder or backup to the current profile folder to recover personal data. Note that best is to avoid restoring a full profile folder and only restore important files that are safe to restore/transfer.
You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).
- Help -> More Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Folder/Directory:
Windows: Open Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile
- bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
- favicons: favicons.sqlite
- bookmark backups: compressed .jsonlz4 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
- cookies.sqlite for the Cookies
- formhistory.sqlite for saved autocomplete Form Data
- logins.json (encrypted logins) and key4.db (encryption key and primary password) for logins saved in the Password Manager
- cert9.db for certificates stored in the Certificate Manager
- persdict.dat for words added to the spell checker dictionary
- permissions.sqlite for Permissions and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for other website specific data (Site Preferences)
- sessionstore.jsonlz4 for open tabs and pinned tabs (see also the sessionstore-backups folder)
I apologize for the late reply I had family matters come up and dealing with other tech issues with the PC upgrade, I do appreciate the assistance.
@Dropa
The problem I am having started before creating a new Sync account, my account was showing disconnected with an endless sync login loop, the only reason for creating a new sync account was from the suggestion made by suram080, simply to see if sync was working.
@Cor-el I do appreciate the info you provided, and will prove to be helpful in future, but unless I’m missing something or just not understanding, outside of deleting the login.json file I do not see how to get my account back to a connected state and get out of the sync login loop.
I have all my bookmarks saved in an html file as well as a json file, as for the tabbed session, that seems to be lost, what I thought I had is useless, I opened the saved file in notpad++ and it has a very old tabbed session, no idea how or why. That is not such a big deal at the moment, the main issue is the sync login loop and disconnected account.
