How to share to web.whatsapp in already open tab

Youtube has an option to share on whatsapp, and once that is clicked one has the option "continue to chat" and then the option to select whatsapp web. But then a new tab is opened even if web.whatsapp is available in a Firefox tab.

How can we make the initial whatsapp tab to be used instead?

By the way, I'm talking about the desktop version of Firefox.
