Latency on sending and receiving emails

more options

I was just updated to 65.5.0 today - i know it because when I opened it today, it asked me to restart to apply update. And then this started... I use email daily - several times a day and after many months of no issues, today I am suddenly getting a long latency on sending and receiving email. I also see the 'spinning indicator' icon on the main window even as no send/receive is happening. When I send emails, it goes to 'contacting SMP server..." and takes a long time. It eventually goes out, but it takes a while. I also tried editing a draft email, and when I tried to save it, it said 'cannot contact the server' - so I can only 'wait' or 'cancel'. Obviously canceling loses my edits. So I did a C & P from my email and saved it locally, then I chose to 'cancel'. It all closed up, but the spinner was still spinning.

Anyone else having similar issues after updating today?

What's your antivirus app? It often happens that when TB updates, the AV becomes incompatible and causes degraded performance. It's generally recommended to add the TB profile folder as an exception or exclusion in AV settings (keeping the real-time background scanner inn place), and to disable AV scanning of secure (SSL) connections.

Thanks.. I use Malwarebytes and McCafee. Im not familiar with adding the profiles and the link you sent does not seem to cover that.

Here are some instructions for McAfee:

You wouldn't be doing yourself a disservice by removing McAfee completely and using the built-in Windows Defender.
