Article on "Secure Connection Failed" is no help
I keep getting this message when trying to log in to Facebook. The only suggestion the article makes is to contact the website owner and ask them to update something. I have no idea how to do this and doubt very much if they would take any notice if I could. Facebook are not noted for acting on feedback. I have no problem logging in via Microsoft Edge, which suggests the problem lies with Firefox, probably the latest release.

Hi d_awdry, do you use any software that sets up as a "man in the middle" of your browsing connections? Products that do that include Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, ESET, Kaspersky, and Microsoft Family Safety. This article describes how to turn off filtering temporarily so you can assess whether that is a factor:

If you use a bookmark then navigate to the web page starting with the main page or the sign in page in case there is a problem with this bookmark.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems:
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data
"Clear the Cache":
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
I have tried everything here, and everything in the article Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems.Still unable to open Facebook in Firefox. I don't know if this is relevant, but for some time before this happened, on most days when I first opened Facebook it would come up unformatted, just text and a list of links. Closing and reopening always cured it. Diana

Often, "Secure Connection Failed" means "Connection Failed (trying to load a secure page)". In other words, not a security problem, just a connection problem.
If that is the case, why has it been happening consistently for about two weeks? And why can I connect using Microsoft Edge?
