First check your list of installed programs in the Control Panel and remove any software that looks suspicious. Applications that hijack browsers are sometimes bundled with others, so if you sort by "Installed On" you can group things by date and this might make it easier to find them.

In Firefox, you can remove toolbars by:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Add-ons.
  2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
  3. Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
  4. Click the Remove button.
  5. Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

If your home page/search bar has been changed due to any of those toolbars, you can also install the Search Reset Tool after Firefox restarts. This will remove the rest of the traces of these programs from your Firefox.
