Primary Email Change
I am changing my email addresses and will eventually delete the email address I initially opened my FF account with. Recently I added my new email address and set it as the primary email address for my FF account. I noticed thereafter that all my bookmarks were gone. I reverted my primary email address to the original one and all the bookmarks returned. How can I retain my bookmarks whilst updating my primary email address? Also, will other settings and features disappear when changing the primary email address? (I noticed that my add-ons remained the same.) Thanks.

Looks like your doing sync and for that to happen correctly you need to go back to the original computer/device the bookmark existed on and change the email or password from that location and then disable and re-sync back those other devices. Remember Sync isn't a backup system nor server that is sync between the origin device that has the data to other connected device. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox/sync https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-sync-my-computer https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox/sync-and-save https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-choose-what-information-sync-firefox https://support.mozilla.org/bm/products/firefox/sync-and-save
Thanks for your reply, Dropa.
The laptop I used to originally open the ff account is long dead. Many of the bookmarks were initially saved using that laptop. Subsequently I purchased a pc and the hard drive of that has just failed. Now I am using a temporary device. It is possible I will be using the pc which has just had the hard drive failure, with a new hard drive installed.
In this case then, it would be best to download and save the bookmarks, change and update the primary email address, and then re-upload the bookmarks?

Failure HDD means lost of all data and there's nothing that can be done here. All the data was on the original so no recovery can happen since the HDD is dead.
I don't understand. I have all the bookmarks. The data is not lost.
