I am a member of a team, which has an email (alias), let's call it team@mycompany.example

Mostly i send email using my personal email me@mycompamy.example, and I also wamt to continue doing so when responding to most emails sent to the team address

However, once in a while I may need to make an announcement using the team@ address as From:

So I set up a second identity using that address

This however now results in TB 102.9.1 (Mac) selecting the team@ address whenever I an replying to email originally sent to team@, which I do not want !! My normal identify me@ is already set as default !

I tried editing my default identify (me@) in Account settings/Manage identities and there

[X] Reply from this identity when delivery headers match: *

which did not help, nor did

[X] Reply from this identity when delivery headers match: *@mycompany.example

Note that the corresponding setting in the team@. identity is *NOT* set !

How can I make TB always select my default identify (me@) and never ever look at the delivery headers? If I want to use a different identity, I will manually choose it!

I maintain multiple email accounts for which I want to run the same filter rules. I mean the *same* rules. Unlike some people in this predicament, I am never moving emails within a folder hierarchy that is only the same as others relative to each account. When I move any particular type of filtered email, those particular messages all go to a folder in a single account, even if they originate in a different account. So, I really do want to run the *same* rules for each account, where each rule will send mails to a single folder. Mind you, though, not each filter that moves a message has to have the same destination account. One filter rule can send all emails to a folder under one account, another filter rule can send emails to a folder under a different account.

Note that I am going to answer my own question. I am doing this because I have seen people troubled by this problem and yet none has received the novel advice I have used to conveniently solve my own problem. All of the questions and answers have also been archived by now, so I cannot offer my novel solution in response to those question. Thus, I am asking the question for myself so I can then share the results with others.

There is a small subset of senders, all of whom seem to be sending e-mail via ActiveCampaign Mailer (activehosted.com) for which I have a problem. When I view the e-mails from them in Thunderbird, I see only a tiny bit of text -- the full graphical content of the e-mail has disappeared (really all of the content, there is no alt-text for the images, just 2 lines of vestigial text). I **only** have this problem when viewing the e-mails in Thunderbird. When I view these e-mails in my ISP's webmail tool, everything is intact. Only when the mail gets downloaded into Thunderbird does the problem occur.

I have already tried disabling my BitDefender anti-spam and that doesn't help.

The e-mail headers of the truncated e-mail in Thunderbird are exactly the same as those on the intact e-mail in the webmail tool (when BitDefender is disabled).

Why is Thunderbird doing this? How can I stop it?

Thanks so much for attention and advice!

and searching for 'FuSy' finds emails

Is there a way too make it skip searching for text in base64 encodings or similar hashes? Often the search results are still too many and I have to visually pare down the results

My husband sent his laptop back to the vendor to be repaired. It was returned to him fixed, and he can access all his items, EXCEPT, his Thunderbird email is asking for his password. If he cannot recall what it is, is there a way to recover it? He has access to his email via our Internet Service Provider by logging onto their website. Is it possible for Mozilla Thunderbird to send him a reset password email he can access that way? HELP!

My Ex recently accessed all my accounts, passwords, pins, the lot. He's changed passwords locking me out of just about everything. I thought I was safe with this twice wiped laptop, but I've just been locked out a new email, which has the one attached to my website: zoe@zleger.com. I need to find some way to get this email back into my hands so I can also recover the new email. I can say I sent a donation last year if that helps verify me. I've created the chisamore email when Google would no longer give me an account with any combination of my name, all of which I have been locked out of. This newly wiped computer has just been infected, sadly by something my son sent me as his email was the last thing I opened until I tried to log into the other email. Now I am locked out of both. I had been conversing with Linux.org about all this (Coreopsis) but I was soon locked out my own computer without even finishing the thread. I have to assume this email is being read but I hope I'm not locked out again. Yes, there is definitely someone watching this and mucking me about. Any help recovering my my website email would be greatly appreciated. Zoe

After upgrading to v. 102, Thunderbird could no longer write to the mailbox, and I had difficulty determining the cause. It turns out that using the Spambayes mail proxy was the culprit. Bypassing the proxy and changing server settings to that of the mail provider allowed me to download email, but I wanted to proxy to work again.

Searching further turned up this link: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1789314 Setting "mailnews.pop3.jsmodule" to false fixes my problem, but the problem must not be identical to that of Bug 1789314 because it is marked as resolved as of TB 102.3 and not requiring the workaround. I am using 102.9, and the workaround is most definitely still needed.

I'm using TB 102.9.0 Problem started 2 weeks ago with emails from a single customer. We were successfully sending/receiving emails with attached photos. Then suddenly anytime he sent an email with an attachment (of any kind) the email never showed. Not even the text body. Emails from this account with text body only work fine. Dont know whether to check my email host Earthlink (dont laugh I'm 30+ years loyal to them) or start fishing in TBird. Suppose it could be be one of either Webroot or SpyHunter that suddenly zeroed in on incoming mail. Will contact Earthlink tomorrow. Seems we've checked that emails from that customer with attachments are being received by others. Never had TB issues in about 8 years.

Hello,

I'm having an issue sending emails from my GoDaddy business email account, which is part of the Microsoft Office Essentials suite from GoDaddy. Specifically, I'm unable to send emails using the Thunderbird desktop application (version 102.9.0). - I can receive emails without any problem, but when I try to send an email, I receive an error message that says:

"Login to account smtp.office365.com" failed. ? - Login to server smtp.office365.com with username my@email.com failed. Retry | Enter New Password | Cancel"

To provide some context, my SMTP server settings are as follows:

SMTP Server Server Name: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication Method: Normal Password Username: my@email.com

I contacted GoDaddy support, and they confirmed that my account and email are functioning correctly. However, the problem persists on the Thunderbird desktop application.

I have successfully set up other email accounts in Thunderbird using Gmail, and they are working fine. So, I suspect that the issue is related to my GoDaddy email account and Thunderbird.

I'm posting this message here in the hope that someone can help me resolve this issue on the Thunderbird desktop application. If anyone has any insights or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance for your help.

In recent versions of thunderbird, I am not able to use the wizard to add my mail account to thunderbird. When I try, I get an error popup saying the ingoing server is already added. It isn't. It is a completely fresh install of thunderbird on a new pc. There are no existing accounts at all in the settings.

My setup: I am using the hosting provider nordicway.dk with my own domain ellenshoej.dk.

The wizard is able to correctly discern most settings, except it gets the username wrong. The username should be the whole emailaddress, but it guesses to only use the username part, in front of the @-sign.

I attach a screenshot of the error popup.

If I go into manual settings and enter the correct username and try again, I still get the same error. (screenshot 2).

Even clicking Advanced configuration (blue link above the buttons) gives the same popup.

The only workaround I have found is to bypass the wizard completely all the way from the start. This can be done by only entering your name and email, then immidiately clicking manual setup and advanced configuration. This creates a blank entry in the settings. (screenshot 3) You can now enter all server settings manually, and then everything will work. But the wizard is completely broken for me.

Hi people! Ofesad here from Argentina.

I am building my website for my business and I started to create the email accounts for it: info@xxx.com, business@xxx.com, schools@xxx.com, universities@xxx.com, purchases@xxx.com, so on.

So I decided to use Thunderbird to to have'em all in one place.

Yesterday I try'd to set up the the accounts using IMAP. I had several issues and the only solution was to delete them from Thunderbird and set'em up again from scratch. I endup setting up 2 (business and purchases)

Now I am trying to add more and when I try to add the Info account I got an error: "Incoming server already exists". Logicaly since all the accounts are in the same server, the "incoming server" would be the same.

So, I dont know how to proceed or get around it go add all the accounts I need.

Any help would be more than welcome.
