The dark mode update (140) just hit my client. What a mess. I want the look back to what it was but disabling dark mode and choosing light mode does not do that. Everything goes to white or near white which was not how it was. Is there AN EASY way to unwind this color mess????? I want all the old colors back!!!!

Hi! Yesterday, 2025-07-29, Thunderbird urged me to compact my several 10000 mails to save space. I consented to this and afterwords I cannot see mails older than a handful of days. I tried right-click on the inbox>Properties>Repair folder. That did not help. I cannot see old mails on my Samsung phone either and all folders on the webmail on one.com are empty except for the last handful of days. I really hope there is a solution to this! I recently transferred my Thunderbird account to a new PC and have been getting a pop-up to enter credentials for a google account every 10 minutes or so. After the pop-up is opened (sometimes in the background), no new mail will be fetched until the pop-up is closed, this is frustrating as I sometimes don't notice the pop-up so seems like I am not getting emails. The pop-up is for Google account, but my mail accounts is from MS Outlook, I don't use Thunderbird for any Gmail and I don't think this Thunderbird profile is associated in any way with my personal Google account.

This is a work computer, so not associated with my personal accounts. I dont want to put my personal Google login here and I don't know how to stop the pop-up.

The transfer was done by copying my profiles folder to the new PC, then installing Thunderbird and creating a new profile, and pointing to the profiles folder. I've had the same profiles folder for 10-15 years or more and not seen this before.

But the time order of emails classified under the same Threaded is wrong, with the earliest email always at the front.

I changed the time order in the settings, but it still doesn't work.

How can I solve this problem?

I updated to 140 on one windows laptop, since then the Inbox sub-folders of a Ymail account disappear. The weird thing was that on start-up, some were displayed, but disappear one-by-one. Another laptop which was running 120 still had the sub-folders intact. I updated that to 140, and when TB restarted, the sub-folders were displayed, then slowly disappeared, one-by-one. It is only the Ymail account that is effected, we have a couple of Outlook accounts that display their Inbox sub-folders. I have selected "Subscribe", all folders are selected. I've unticked the sub-folders thinking that maybe it would allow me to re-select them, but on a re-start they are still shown as selected.

Hope you have a solution.

I have just set up Thunderbird with a handful of email accounts. All inboxes show in the "All Folders" panel block, but when "Unified Folders" block is selected, the acc… (lees meer)

I have just set up Thunderbird with a handful of email accounts.

All inboxes show in the "All Folders" panel block, but when "Unified Folders" block is selected, the accounts prefixed "Intuition" fail to show in the panel. The Unified Inbox DOES receive mail from these hidden accounts, but this isn't really good enough as I need to be able to browse in to the folders within these accounts regularly.

Having both Unified and All views up is a workaround, but with 10+ accounts it takes up the full length of the screen when collapsed and is not the ideal setup.

I have deleted the folder index json and a couple of other internet-sourced tricks but to no avail.

I have a Google Workspace account and am trying to use Thunderbird as an email client.

If I let Thunderbird figure out the settings it will fail to recognize imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com as the server.

I'm on a Mac M1 running macOS 15.5 The Thunderbird version is the latest at 115.10. Neither the hardware, the OS version, or Thunderbird seem to matter to the issue at hand, as described below. What seems to matter is the fact that I have multiple mail accounts on my Thunderbird.

When I do the manual setup and click 'Re-test' I get the "The following setting were found by probing the given server" on a green background, screenshot also attached.

However, after clicking on 'Done' I'm getting the "Unable to login at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." Screenshot also attached.

If I do Advanced config with what I know to be correct settings the account is not functional, I cannot see any email that's on the server and cannot send email.

I know the mail settings to be correct and the mail server to work properly because if I setup Thunderbird from scratch on a Linux or macOS machine, everything works as expected.

In the prefs.js file I can see multiple entries for mail.smtpserver.smtp*.username with the same value ("virgil@sproutwyze.com"), definitely from the multiple attempts to create a functional mail account. This shouldn't matter though since only one of those smtp server appears in "mail.smtpservers".

Lastly, I have upgraded Thunderbird to 128.13.0esr hoping for a different outcome. Alas, the behavior is the same though logging information sent to the error console is much better. NOTE: for the manual setup there is nothing on the error console when I press on the 'Done' button.

Any suggestions for how to fix the problem? Thank you.

  • But all outoging messages have lost their tags. I think those are stored in .msf files.

This is painful, because this means countless hours of lost work.

Is there any way to rescue the tags ?

(I use Maildir storage format.)
