Thunderbird (157.0.1 (64-bit)) write toolbar missing.

All things are correctly configured, as mentioned in this article, and nothing is working in making the Write (Compose) Formatting toolbar appear again.

Everything is set to compose in HTML format and the keyboard commands mentioned in other articles and so forth do nothing.

Is is perhaps a corrupted profile setting file somewhere? Is there a Config Editor setting that needs to/can be changed ?

Please advise, soonest, thank you in advance.

Hi there I have been using Thunderbird for many years to manage the same many mail accounts on diverse PCs. I prefer using a portable version from portableapps.com, partly because when it comes to transferring to another gadget, it suffices just moving the portable folder, and I do not have to create dozens of accounts in a fresh install. Of late, I have been getting frequent irritating error messages for 2 Yahoo accounts. It connects to them & I can receive mail, but for automatic connections to the server in between, I keep getting error messages like: The current operation on 'inbox' did not succeed.' The mail account to abc@yahoo.com responded: p.', ... etc The other day, after reading about possible solutions from some forums, I decided to just delete both accounts and used the recommended Thunderbird connection settings for Yahoo to create the 2 accounts anew. I thought the problem was solved, only to have the same alerts every now & then reappearing, which amounts to a lot, if you have Thunderbird on many hours a day. I consistently update Thunderbird, the moment I'm alerted to a new version. I also have Gmail, Outlook, AOL(AIM) & other accounts, but not get similar issues. How do I permanently solve this problem? Today TB froze during start up. No problems yesterday.

I deleted global-messages-db.sqlite and restarted TB. Now it is frozen with a "Loading messages". Maybe it is rebuilding indexes and this takes a long time and I should be patient.

Maybe my In and Sent mail boxes are too big? If so, how can I safely prune them?

TB is becoming increasingly unstable for me. It was very reliable before about a month ago.

I doubt my AV is the culprit because AV has not changed today.

I moved some emails to a folder and they are not there. Tried to move last email to folder and it jumps back to my inbox. Also how do I access help in thunderbird?

There is apparently a bug in the latest release of Thunderbird, which has broken the callbacks for Yahoo! IMAP email using OAuth. Potentially, it may actually be a problem with Yahoo!, and how https://api.login.yahoo.com is attempting to reopen Thunderbird after logging in, as the process has changed. I've already reverted back to the ESR Thunderbird channel once, but on a recent update the issue was reintroduced. Screenshots are included.

Suddenly yesterday I no longer got the drop down box with my files to select, when I press "attach" or Ctrl, shift,A. I have turned the PC off a couple of times, and refresh Thunderbird but it still doesn't appear. Tried on my laptop and that works OK.

I've read that I can create several Thunderbird profiles and load my desired Profile to startup and use the Profile Manager to switch profiles. I'm guessing that I can only load one profile into Thunderbird at a time (?).

And if I wanted to check emails from another profile I'd have to close or switch or somehow unload the current profile(?).

It would seem to me if it were possible to load more than one profile at a time, then if two profiles had the exact same mailbox account, it would cause problems(?).

Appreciate any input from those with experience in this.

I have down loaded the latest version of Thunder Bird. The program still has my settings to access my e-mail. For some reason every time I try and read my e-mail the program locks up and I have to do a Task Manager to stop the program Any and all comments would be appreciated. Thanks Dave

ever since last update... can't send emails

I changed POP3 email password to an app password and Thunderbird would not recognize it even though I updated in Security. I was told to delete the Thunderbird account then set it back up which I did--I did not check the box to delete files. Finally the new account was able to bring in new emails (POP3) but the old folders/emails are not there.

I read that I should go to %appdata%, roaming, Thunderbird but the dates are from years ago--do I go further to find my data or is there another path or something else I should do?

Unless they were backed up somewhere within Thunderbird, I don't think I have any backup.

Please help! Suddenly I can't attach anything to my emails on Thunderbird. Click on Attach, and try all the other methods to attach something, and absolutely nothing happens! Have been using Thinderbird for decades and this is a first. Have gone into Settings, Composition, Attachments and the option Check for Missing Attachments is ticked. Is there another Setting somewhere that could be stopping me from attaching anything? Thank you for your time

Since yesterday afternoon, it has not been possible to attach files to emails using the paperclip icon. Files can only be attached by dragging and dropping them into the email.

I am having constant problems for months now with Thunderbird freezing and message not responding. It appears to happen mostly when trying to empty deleted folder in block like 20 or more. If I deleted in blocks of four all is ok. As soon as I try to delete a larger amount at once it freezes and displays the message Thunderbird Not Responding. I have followed u tube videos to the letter to attempt repair with no success any ideas please?

Is there a user manual somewhere? If not, it appears many of us would need one.

Please let us know where to find it or, if there isn't one yet, please create it.
