stupid way to verify

Got email on my billing with "ensure your payment method...", put in my logging info and a code is sent to THE SAME EMAIL I am in, when I open the email to get the code, the one I have open, closes, and I can't put the code anywhere. When I try to get back in from the received email I get a message "unverified user or session", so I can't get into my account. It is stupid to send a code to the same email. Why not try a telephone? Everybody else does.
