when i attempted to log into gmail today using firefox i got a screen touting their new ai stuff and requiring me to sign back into gmail. after i entered my email, it asked me to sign in with my passkey and froze. this happened three times. i restarted everything, no joy. could only enter through chrome. then about 12 hrs later i was able to enter via firefox. who knows why. i am not a computer tech person. problem is solved by the invisible hand. some tech person replied to my inquiry with the super unhelpful “i don’t have that problem.” good for you! couldn’t get back to the conversation thread to say, problem solved.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that your issue is resolved. I'll mark your other questions as duplicates of this one. For the future, you can find your question list by hovering your avatar and clicking My questions under View Profile (alternatively, for this account, you can use this link).

Also, here are some standard troubleshooting steps that may help with such kind of issues:

  1. Please check if you have Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) enabled. You can do that by clicking the shield Fx89ShieldIcon icon at the left of the address bar.
    • If ETP is enabled, try disabling it.
  2. If the problem is not fixed, try clearing Firefox cache.
  3. If it does not help, also try clearing cookies and data for the website you experience troubles with (warning: you will be logged out on this website).
  4. If it also does not help, try running Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode. If the problem doesn't persist, please follow the steps from this article to troubleshoot further.

Hi Laura,

Thank you for getting back here! Sorry that we were unable to assist you quickly enough. What jonzn4SUSE meant in your second question was that there were not enough details to understand the issue. Next time you post, please describe your problem as you did in this question: here, you mentioned how the issue appeared, what exactly happened, and what you tried to do to resolve it. It makes much more sense for a different person than just the fact that you "can't enter a passkey" for Gmail in Firefox.
