Do not receive mail from gmail.com senders
I am not able to receive mail from a user sending me mail from a gmail.com account. I have communicated with my ISP Optonline.net and they state the there mail process "checks out" and the issue could be the browser I am using, Firefox. The last email I have from a gmail.com sender was 8/28/2025. I have asked two different gmail users the send me mail and have not received any of them. I have cleared the Firefox cache but that did not correct the issue. I come to you to figure this issue out and hopefully solve it. How is not not receiving email a browser issue?
Hi Richard, I assume you have checked Junk/Spam/Trash folders to make sure the incoming messages weren't filed there. If not, please check those first.
Have you checked how your inbox looks in Microsoft Edge to see how it differs from Firefox? For example, are messages sorted differently, or is there a different filter on your mailbox?
Do you have a GMail account you can use to test sending a message to your ISP email address? That could be helpful in case it is bouncing back with an error message. It's free to create a new GMail account if needed, but you might want to use a private window for your testing to avoid leaving Google cookies in your main window if you are trying to stay more anonymous.
jscher thanks for your response. 1. I have looked many times in the drafts, sent, junk, deleted & my folders for any mail from a gmail sender, the only one I have was sent on 8/28/2025, nothing since. I have sent about 4 mails to email contacts and nothing back. 2, I do have a gmail account and have sent a test message from my gmail to my optonline address and it was successful. 3, I have sent a test message from my optonline address to my gmail address and that was successful. 4. I went to Microsoft edge and signed into optonline and the mailbox looks the same as optonline. 5. I am not sure what jonzn4suse issue is he seems to not understand. I have spent over an hour with Optonline help desk to have them fix the issue, they have come back stating that there mail process "checks out" to be in order. They have suggested that I contact my browser "Firefox" to see if something has changed since 8/28/2025, an update or process. That is what I am doing and trust you can provide an answer to why I can not receive mail from gmail when I receive mail from other mail providers.

Since you see the identical list of messages in two different browsers when checking their website, I don't think that either Firefox or Edge is causing the problem. Browsers should faithfully show what is on the page, unless the page is incompatible with the browser.
You probably have the option to read your mail in a separate, stand-alone mail program, whether on your computer or on a mobile device. But I have no idea whether that would show anything different than you can see in the browser. Did Optimum say that they can see those messages in your inbox, or were they just seeing exactly what you are seeing?
