I see version 54 is out but I cannot seem to get the next version to download, and I cannot find it in the Linux repository or synaptic package manager.

Yes there is an update, but as you are using a derivative of Ubuntu you probably should wait until they get around to offering it.
The ease of use that comes with ubuntu comes at a price.

Ok Thanx Matt. I know the later versions of Thunderbird let you adjust the font size, and that's what I need. I will have to wait to see if the new version shows up in the repository.
