I cannot see a new tab when I try to open one. I have to toggle between full screen and tiles to get to and from newly opened tabs.

I cannot use Firefox without toggling btw maximizing my firefox window and minimizing the browser window. I cannot type in the google search area without having to toggle btw max/min screen. If I want to open another tab or for instance, click the search button, or click 'automatically add" on the button shown on this screen I am now in, I must toggle to continue working. My first version of firefox worked fine because I used it when my system crashed as Windows update installed IE10 on my system. However the updated version of Firefox has not worked correctly on my system.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I tried what you suggested, closed then restarted Firefox and that seems to have resolved the issues however it now appears that a new window or tab is not opened (even though Open tab in new window is checked in Tools) as a new tab, it opens in the same window. I can live with that if that will eliminate the toggling btw screens! Thank you

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
