However, if I use IE, the envelope appears, and my gifts window loads. Also, my husband's computer running Firefox works correctly; he has no problems with this FarmVille issue.

Have you looked at the Knowledge Base article Fix problems with Facebook games, chat and more? There is a lot of good troubleshooting information in there. Please be sure to try all of the suggested steps. Each one is valuable and may be the answer to your issue.
