How do I unsync my old email account that no longer exists from Thunderbird?

Michael Romano

Thunderbird continuously asks me to log in to an email account that no longer exists whenever I try to compose an email. I can send emails just fine on my Chrome web browser using Gmail, but I really like do all my emailing using Thunderbird. Specifically the error message states, " Login to server smtp.gmail.com with username mikeromano.1185@gmail.com failed." Please advise how I can fix this. Thanks, Mike Romano

If you have closed that Gmail account, and it's still set up in Thunderbird, you should copy all messages that you want to keep to Local Folders, then delete the account from Thunderbird. When you're asked to delete all data, including stored passwords, you can say 'yes' because you've already backed it up.

Also, remove any Gmail remote Calendars and Address Books you may be subscribed to that are associated with that account.
