Thunderbird isn't finding anything in global search

I've tried rebuilding the relevant profile file and I'm still getting "nothing found" for, for example, emails I can see are in the inbox. Thanks!

two things.

You rebuild the index. Is it complete? IT rebuilds in the background and can take days on my system, but I do have a lot of mail. Double click the stus bar at the bottom of Thunderbird and check what indexing is happening.

What are your search criteria? The global search has some gaping holes where you will never get results. Especially if your search involves numbers.
