Can't Load Website Due To cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi
Hi,
I am trying to go to a particular website and I get this error message in different browsers including Firefox and my android smart phone. What does this mean? Is there a problem with his website.
Thank you, Amy

Hi Amy, In computing, Common Gateway Interface (CGI) is way that enables web servers to execute an external program to process HTTP or HTTPS user requests. Such programs are often written in a scripting language and are commonly referred to as CGI scripts.
The person/ company that owns the website you want to use, can monitor your actions on their site and might stop responding to your queries as a result. The error message you get back indicates your queries have been blocked (at least temporarily) by them. As for the reason, one could only guess.
Kind regards, Dick
Hi Dick,
Thank you so much for your reply. This is so strange. This is a website that I have used many times in the past to purchase their merchandise. As a matter of fact, I received an email today from the one of the owners telling me about what is going on and several links to purchase items from their website. Every time I click on one of these links the error happens.
I have replied to her email telling her the problem.
Thank you for your help!!!!
Amelia
Hi Amelia,
The owner of the website uses a cgi script to process your intended purchase. Scripts in general require a computer to run. CGI scripts typically run on the computer that hosts the website. In most cases, that would be a server computer run by a third party hosting service.
When you start a website using a third party hosting provider, the contract can include many things, like i.e. speed and uptime guarantees. It could also include a specific maximum times per time period that a CGI script is allowed to run on the hosting server. Once over that limit, the script stops, reporting back to you that it’s suspended. This could resolve over time, depending on the specific contract between the website owner and the hosting provider.
Kind regards, Dick
Thank you again Dick I am waiting for her response. I cannot get into this website at all Amy
This is a site issue.
Their hosting provider may have disabled their account (over payment, abuse or safety/security concerns; or the site exceeded their allocated service limits), or the standing of the accounts got broken e.g. in case they manage their own systems.
(This is most likely a cPanel state, more details e.g. in https://blog.sucuri.net/2024/01/fix-this-account-has-been-suspended-web-host.html …)
Thank you jbr
I am still waiting for the owners response to my email. I would let everybody know. Amy
