I have 8 different emails in my Thunderbird. Some of them holds quite huge correspondances. I have all emails set up as Imap. I have plenty of space on my server.

My computer guy tells me there is a bug somewhere that keeps piling up emails to take up much more space on the computer than on the server. We have deleted the program twice and it happens again, and again.

What can I do? Can I use Thunderbird as webmail?

I have just downloaded Thunderbird on my phone as well. Is that what caused the problem this time.

How do I solve my problem.

Thank you in advance for your assistance

First, reinstalling thunderbird accomplishes nothing, as thunderbird is not the issue. Try this: - click account settings>synchronizaion&storage for each account and set sync to just recent 30 days. - next, exit thunderbird - in profile, in the imap\<accountname> folder for each account, DELETE the message folders and their msf entries. - restart thunderbird, which will repopulate the folders with the new sync setting - then, periodically compact the folders. That is what is causing space on PC to be bigger than space on server.

The phone is a separate entity and has the same issues, but is not a cause of the space usage.
