I am able to use quick search on all of my folders EXCEPT the Sent folder and it's sub folders.

Example: When in the Inbox, I type part of someone's email and I see all the emails with that as part of the email address. BUT, when I do this for the SENT folder and any of the sub folders and nothing comes up. Even folks that I email several times a day it does not find them

When I put Thunderbird into Troubleshoot mode, the quick search works.

Another issue is when doing a global search for all folders, I will see something in sent, but when I click on it, Thunderbird does not find the email. This happens with the SENT folder only.

I have tried a few solutions, including rebuilding the Global Database and making sure this folder is part of that.

what am I missing?

Thanks for any help Chris

The fact it works in Troubleshooting mode would indicate that an add-on is the root cause. What do you have installed? (Note some antiviruis products install, or inject, addon that do not show in the Thunderbird addon manager, so if oyu have none that might be where to look.

I only had a few add-ons and when disabled I still have the search function not working correctly on Sent.

Any other ideas?

The only thing not working is quick search on sent folders and their subs. If I use a part of someone's email I do not find anything. This works on Inbox

Thanks, Chris

Uninstall addons until the problem disappears.

There's more to safe/troubleshoot mode than disabling add-ons. Check for a broken layout ('reset toolbars & controls', 'make changes & restart') or incorrect hardware acceleration settings, as the most likely factors besides add-ons:

Thank you everyone for the suggestions.

As I was uninstalling the add-ons, my eye finally caught the Filter messages by: Sender, Recipients, Subject, Body.

I've never changed these and found out that the recipients was unchecked. Obviously checking that has now solved my problem with the quick search filter.

Thanks again.
