How can I protect pinned tabs from being closed accidentally?
A few years ago jscher2000 gave me wonderful instructions for how to create some of the features that were once easy for ordinary users like myself to control through an Extension called TabMixPlus. Apparently there was some big disagreement between the developer and Firefox and they completely disabled it. At any rate, I'm continually frustrated when I accidentally move a pinned tab to a new window while trying to move or resize Firefox. I would like to know how, in about:config, I can create a setting with which I can protect pinned tabs. Thanks.

Firefox has a 'tear-off' feature to move the tab to a new window by slightly dragging the tab down. There is a pref in about:config to disable tear-off and prevent moving the tab accidentally to a new window.
- about:config => browser.tabs.allowTabDetach => false
There is still "Move Tab -> Move to New Window" in the Tab bar context menu to use this feature. You can drag the tab back to the Tab bar in the original window to undo the 'tear off'. Firefox will automatically close the window if this window is empty (no more tabs).
You can open about:config via the location/address bar. On the warning page, click "Accept the Risk and Continue" to open about:config.
Thanks cor-el! This is great and it takes care of the most common annoyance that has me longing for TabMix Plus and the ability to protect the tabs. The other instance are annoying but infrequent.
