With CyberGhost VPN enabled I can receive emails but can not sens. I have to disable the VPN to send. Any suggestions?

most VPN's prevent the ports used to send mail being used. I suggest you consult with your VPN provider.

In other instances the provider of the mail account refuses to send mail becuae you are not connecting to the server from their network but some other location that the VPN says you are connecting from.

Neither of those things are Thunderbird issues.
