I had issues with my computer which got me into a situation where i had to delete all partitions of my drives, starting from 0. Signing in my firefox account in a fresh win install suddenly recovers NOTHING and i am now panicking as i had very important accounts & passwords, bookmarks, tabs, extensions, etc. I have tried other devices too without any luck. I need help recovering all these asap.

In the image below you will see a large photo with thumbnails to its left. I should be able to "mouse-over" the thumbnails to access the related image, or simply click it... but yesterday that all stopped working in Firefox. I just installed "Brave" and it all works fine. Was there an update change that could cause the function to stop working? To whom this may concern, I am requiring about getting back bookmarks I recently just lost. I had a list close to 3000 of them, however I reformatted my PC and found out there weren't being synced recently and don't have the bookmark backups in my file list anywhere. Have tried many data recovery software to no avail, if there's a possibility I could have access to my last few bookmark updates to the cloud that would save many headaches Thanking you

Took me a long time to nail this issue down. Recently (past 1-2 years?), Firefox has started suggesting the base website when you have bookmarks that include the base domain - and it's really bothersome from a UX perspective. E.g. if i have "adobe.com/express" or any other adobe bookmarks, the FIRST autocompleted url Firefox gives me is "adobe.com" which I DO NOT have as a bookmark. In my Firefox settings I also have Shortcuts and other search suggestions disabled.

Why is Firefox doing this?

I have found that Firefox does not play some audio files, for instance on Wikipedia and WaniKani, such as the audio on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erhu and https://www.wanikani.com/vocabulary/%E9%9F%B3. When inspecting network activity I can see that an attempt is made to load the audio on Wikipedia, but it does not play. On WaniKani however, no attempt is made. (WaniKani uses .webm for sound, maybe that has something to do with it?) The problem appeared after the update to Firefox 118 and persists in private browsing and troubleshooting mode, but does not occur in GNOME Web.

I have an older laptop with very little memory, so I keep Firefox closed when I'm not using it. Both MS Hearts and MS Mahjong periodically open it to display their webpages. That brings play to a halt, and the game freezes, and sometimes crashes. Is there a way to block them from opening Firefox?

I visited the website https://quantumbridge.app and somehow it installed something into my Firefox so that the website loads on my toolbar as an icon for a couple of seconds and then disappears. I have tried turning all of my extensions off and it still appears. I have tried researching how to fix this but I have had no luck.

Often, I am unable to submit with Foxfire. Usually, I disable a mess of blocking/privacy settings, and sometimes this works. Not today. The annoying ReCapta pictures/bridges/bicycles/sidewalks never showed. Never. Selecting the submission button failed to cause any kind of a reaction. Finally, had to use Chrome. What gives? Can this be fixed?

Oh, yeah, I'm a retired wildlife biologist, not a programmer, so please dumb it down.

I'm using Firefox on windows 11 home 22H2. After the recent update to 118.0 I've been unable to load yahoo.com.

I tried the following: Disabled addons Disabled firewall Restarted firefox Restarted computer Restarted firefox in troubleshoot mode

I'm out of ideas except for a downgrade maybe.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I sign in to a website I check the box saying 'remember this computer' but FF doesn't seem to allow this. I have to go thru the security login every single time, like when signing in to a google account. It works on Chrome but not FF.

This may be related: sometimes the page displayed on FF doesn't function as it should. Example: I was using Quickbooks online and when I clicked the HELP button nothing happened. I thought it was an Intuit problem until I used Chrome and found the HELP button worked.

When opening the following bookmark https://www.youtube.com/@msolrecords I end up with https://www.youtube.com/msolrecords and page not found. If I type the @ it works. I have cleared my browsing history and cookies with no help. I can't access anything google. The last line of the error message is "Check that Firefox has permission to access the web (you might be connected but behind a firewall)". I haven't changed any settings,that I'm aware of, and I'm running out of ideas.

I have not updated my build to the 118.0.2 version yet, the reason for that is because I've read a couple of reports of people suggesting that the 'Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar' from 'Settings > General > Tabs' is enabled by default, and thus there is no longer an option to turn it off.

I don't like to clutter my taskbar with tab previews, that's why I've always kept 'Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar' turned off.

Is this true? or is the option to keep 'Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar' on or off still available in the 118.0.2 version?

I posted earlier about a search settings problem. I have been monkeying with things until I got a reply7 that led me to a fix. Except now I cannot see my addons on the toolbar and can't figure out how to make them visible. They seem to be there if I scroll over the spot but are not visible to me so that I can use them. Right click gives me the drop menu but left click gives nothing. And how do you get rid of that dang puzzle piece thing?

I have enabled the "Reduce motion" in macOS to limit animations when using app exposé or switching between desktops. Firefox seems to read this option from the OS and limit its animations, such as the loading animation shown next to a tab description when loading a window.

Is there an option to ignore the OS settings and enable all animations in Firefox?

I have FF set up to use only DDG. Part of this setup is that I have removed all other search engines from search options. Today Oct 7, 2023, when I booted up things were normal. About an hour ago I entered a search term in the browser and the search result came up on google. That should not be possible. I checked my settings and sure enough google has been added and placed atop DDG. Furthermore google cannot be removed when selected, the remove button is greyed out. The remove button is not greyed out when DDG is selected. !? What happened and how do I fix it?

Dear community, as per title, my spellcheck is enabled but it doesn't work and the right-click contextual menu does not appear but this happens only when I write emails on the GMAIL webapp.

I have the checkbox in the settings ticked. I have the about:config layout.spellcheck entry set to 2. I have installed multiple dictionaries (and yes, they are dictionaries and NOT language packs).

Even if all looks correct, the spellcheck doesn't work; moreover, the contextual menu that should appear when I right-click to select the language is not there.

I mean, it works whilst I am writing this message but not on the GMAIL webapp.

I am on Windows. On the same machine I have 2 accounts (one personal and one for work) and the other account works flawlessly on the GMAIL webapp.

Am I missing something?
