You can press the Option+Home keys on your keyboard to open your home page. (See Keyboard shortcuts - Perform common Firefox tasks quickly for more information.)
To move the Home button on the toolbar, right-click on the button (or hold the control key while clicking it) and choose "Customize..." Then drag the button wherever you want it to go.

I found this in another forum and it works great
Fn + option + left arrow
Just to the "customize toolbar" function and click and drag the "home" house to where you want it.
I have an iMac with no 'Home' button - I have also tried Fn + option + left arrow and every variation of that shortcut but cannot seem to get the shortcut to work. I have also gone to System Preferences and tried to set up the shortcut there (under Applications) - still no joy. I can see the shortcut is set up when I look at the history tab but it doesn't work.... any ideas? iMac 2.16gHz, OS 10.6.7

You can also try fn + left arrow
Thank you for the suggestion that, on a Mac, function-option-leftarrow changes the open window to the home page; it does just that on my iMac. However, it does not when Firefox is open but no window is open. With Safari open but no window open, all I had to do was hit command-shift-H, and it sprang to the home page. What keyboard shortcut will do that with Firefox? Thank you!
This is exactly what we need. Cmd+shift+H It works in Safari and Chrome, why not Firefox?? To be honest, the lack of this shortcut makes this browser useless to me.
And no, my keyboard does not have a "home" button.
