First Netscape then Thunderbird, we've been using and recommending Thunderbird for a LONG time, gradually weening customers away from built in clients which become incompatible when hardware or O/S changes. Providing a POP mail service to our customers, Thunderbird has always been at the top of our recommended email client list. The portability of Thunderbird has been a godsend over the years. Especially with customers managing large number of email accounts. I hope the change doesn't result in us we looking for another email client once the new version is launched.

Thunderbird has been evolving for decades and will continue in that direction. It isn't just to be innovative; Thunderbird needs to change over time to support new directions by email providers and evolving protocols. This is everywhere; if you monitor email clients, then you are aware that both Mailbird and eM Client have just initiated their own new directions and expansion. Change happens everywhere. Businesses that use software as part of the business's workflow should go slowly when upgrading the software, whether it is Quickbooks or Thunderbird or other. Businesses need also to do routine backups, as glitches do happen, whether software or hardware. I might add that this forum is staffed by volunteers; we do not design the changes, nor do we write the code. We are users, the same as you. I share your concerns, but I believe our best strategy is to stay the course; Thunderbird keeps getting better, and coping with a bump here and there seems preferable to changing to a new course. There are just my personal comments. Was there a specific new feature that is your concern? Thank you.
