Lost email moved from spam
I had an email in my hotmail spam folder. I moved it to the inbox and it disappeared! Possible causes of a problem 1. The email came from a private email domain eg info@companyname.com. It is a small company which uses outlook, a previous email also ended up in my spam even though it is genuine, (And I know from experience that kind of email address can cause problems in my setup) 2. Both emails had an attachment - the first one I moved using thunderbird desktop, not android, directly to the inbox of another email account with no problem. 3. All email to my hotmail automatically gets forwarded onto a gmail account (not leaving a copy in hotmail). However if I mark an email as not spam/move to inbox in thunderbird (desktop) it doesn't get forwarded on, stays in the hotmail inbox.
I have just moved another message (telling me I'd signed in here) from my spam to inbox using thunderbird android and it has appeared in my hotmail inbox - so I suspect the attachment might be the issue?
Any advice of how I can get it back? (and also what exactly caused the issue) I have searched both email accounts (including trash and spam and all mail) and it isn't appearing anywhere... searched/looked in thunderbird desktop and both email accounts online and it has gone ... Thanks

Your post is a riddle 😵💫 "As I was going to st. Ives I met a man with seven wives..." Appreciate if you can clarify.
1. Which application did you use to move the email that disappeared. TB mobile or desktop?
2. How are emails being forwarded to Gmail. Do you have local rules on TB desktop or are they applied server side. Are the rules configured to delete emails after transmission to gmail? You say "not leaving a copy in hotmail."
Have you checked the outbox and sent mail folders on the device? You can also check Hotmail's "Recover deleted items" feature to see if the email in present there? See screen shot below.
As a side note, TB mobile doesn't have any ability to move emails directly from one account to another.

Thanks 1. I moved the disappearing email using Thunderbird android 2. Emails are forwarded to gmail using the hotmail 'forward to' setting with the option to delete /don't leave a copy in the inbox- set up years ago guess around 2010 - before I started using Thunderbird desktop nevermind android... (Hotmail address was set up in 1996/97 - I set up forwarding/a new gmail account/moved old emails out of it after I was locked out of hotmail with too many failed password attempts -apparently the result of attempts to hack in...a wake up call -and it is still targeted - there have been many hundreds -probably thousands- of attempts over the years - this way of anyone gets in they don't get instant access to my emails. ) I have looked in and done search all folders in hotmail, gmail, TB desktop & android - and it seems to be nowhere I didn't know about the recover option in hotmail I'll have to look when I'm on my computer tomorrow... Thanks again - I know it is a bit complex -at the time & in a bit of a panic it was the best solution I could think of (I actually have another outlook email now for one time shopping etc which forwards onto the hotmail to the gmail 😃 🙄 - and really important emails are archived offline in local folders in TB )
