Are "Mozilla VPN" and "Firefox's Built-in VPN" the same program or service?

I have been a subscriber to Firefox for a number of years, while using a different proprietary VPN. I changed my VPN service to Mozilla VPN a few months ago paying a an additional fee for the service. I learned shortly after that Firefox had a built in VPN and sometimes it appears to me as if that's what I'm using. Question: Is "Firefox built-in VPN"the same program /service as "Mozilla VPN"? Should I in fact have paid an additional subscription fee? If so, I do not seem to have a record of the terms of this fee and how often it must be renewed. Could you please clarify this situation.

Hi

They are two different things:

The Mozilla VPN protects your entire device and there is a subscription cost for it.

The VPN built into Firefox just protects Firefox and there is no subscription to pay for it.

Are both MOZilla VPN and "Firefox Built-in VPN" operating at the same time?

Also the free built-in VPN in desktop Firefox is more of a proxy and you only get a 50GB data limit each month.

What if I subscribe to Mozilla VPN? The VPN is free and browser-only. If you choose to subscribe to Mozilla VPN, you’ll get device-level protection, including: Encrypted traffic across all apps and services, not just Firefox. Additional privacy features and customization options. If you're a Mozilla VPN subscriber, we recommend removing the VPN icon from the toolbar to avoid duplicate protection. On Windows, you can also install the Mozilla VPN extension to obtain even more value from your subscription.
