I'm running FF v147.2.1 on my iPhone. There is NO translation option in the address bar OR in settings. It was supposed to be introduced in v146. Why is it not available despite having a version that is supposed to have the feature?

Hey Peter and Frodo,

As I noted above, this feature is still being rolled out progressively. There's a huge chance that it hasn't reached yours yet even though you have Studies enabled.

I'm following up with my team to add a progressive roll out banner in the Translate webpages in Firefox for iOS to avoid more confusion. Sorry about this inconvenience and thanks for your excitement about this feature. Really means a lot to us and the team working on this.

Hi Frodo,

can you let me know what language are you using for your Firefox for iOS? To my understanding, Firefox Translations on iOS is still pretty limited in locale availability.

English. But I download the app from the Swedish Apple app store.

It looks like Firefox Translations on iOS is still being rolled out progressively so it may not reached yours yet.

Thank you for your interest in the feature, but we kindly ask for your patience. In the meantime, you may want to read the following article to learn more about this functionality. Translate webpages in Firefox for iOS

I'm not sure how the linked webpage is of help to me since that functionality does not exist in my FF v147.3. Said webpage could be edited for clarity: The feature is available starting in Firefox for iOS version 146. Update your app from the App Store if you don’t see it. ...although the translation feature is not availabe in all app stores despite having ≥v146.

Like others, I've now set Safari as my default browser in iOS since it has both translation and (ad blocking) extensions, neither of which exist in FF v147.3 for iOS.

Fair point! I'll take the feedback to our team for consideration.

I have a similar issue with translation not showing in Firefox 147.5 (67839). I used to have the translation option appear in the URL bar, but no longer see that as an option and there is no translation option in the settings. So have to use Safari now to get this option.

The feature should be available to everyone that has "Allow Feature Studies" turned on in settings. You should then see "Translations" in your settings as well.

So far we support English, French, Spanish, Japanese, German and Portuguese in iOS.

Please report back if this is your case.

@TyDraniu, this did not solve the issue for me. In order to enable Allow Feature Studies, Send Technical and Interaction Data also had to be enabled. Even after doing so, and closing & re-launching FF there's no Settings/Translation available.

Hi Frodo,

I crossed check this internally and I can confirm that iOS translation is still limited to the languages we mentioned in Translate webpages in Firefox for iOS which are German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Portuguese and English.

Apologies for this inconvenience. That said, I know that the team is planning on full release soon. We'll make sure to keep you updated once that happen. Would that work?

Using firefox v148 on iPadOS 26.3, and there is also no translation option. How can I enable this? Thanks

Kiki, the language limitations isn't the issue for me. The issue is that there's no translation option at all, even when enabling Send Technical and Interaction Data, and Allow Feature Studies.

Thanks for the update. Is there a plan by when this should be fully rolled out, or being available as an option for every installation? And what drives this schedule? Thanks

Hi Peter,

I can’t speak specifically for this feature, but in general, progressive rollouts are designed to minimize user impact in case there are issues that weren’t identified during earlier release stages.

Also just an update that we've added the progressive rollout banner in the Translate webpages in Firefox for iOS article. Thanks again for all of you for bringing this to our attention.

Kiki, I appreciate your clarity in this thread and the updated rollout banner. That's responsibility in action. Cheers.

Thanks, Frodo. I'm glad you appreciate what we did.

If you haven't already, please select the answer that solves the problem. This will help other users with similar problems find the solution.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and for using Firefox for iOS. (:

Almost 4 weeks later, Firefox v149, and I am still not seeing this, neither on iPad nor iPhone. Any updates on timeline?

Same here, I am running Firefox v149.2 on iPhone , and still waiting for Translation feature. Any updates on timeline?

Even if you are on Firefox v147.2.1, the translation feature is not enabled for all users yet because Mozilla rolls it out gradually (server-side).

Only real solution: Wait for Mozilla to enable it for your account/region OR Reinstall and update Firefox to ensure you’re in the latest rollout group (but still not guaranteed)

So the feature is missing due to staged rollout, not a bug in your app.
