I cannot sign into my account at Fifth Third Bank using Firefox. This has been true for months. That is the only site I've had any trouble with, and they blame you. They want me to use Chrome. I don't want to.

What can I say to Fifth Third to persuade them that I am not the problem? They get plenty of complaints from others with my same problem, according to customer service there. Is there a way for me to use my computer, my browser of choice, etc?

It depends? Firefox recently rolled out "Total Cookie Protection" to more users. This limits how sites can use "third party" or "cross-site" cookies, meaning cookies from different websites than the one you see in the address bar. Some banks pass you back and forth between different servers because they have a partner platform for their online banking software. In those cases, you might be able to submit a form successfully on one page and then the next page says you are not logged in. Frustrating!

You can make exceptions to this feature when needed (for each server that you visit as part of the process of using this company's services). More info in the following articles:

Any difference?

Hi and thanks.

No, it isn't better. Reading some of the other things that this led to also told me that those using other browsers have had the same problem. What infuriates me (I am indeed infuriated) is that Fifth Third isn't whatsoever upset that its customers can't see their bank accounts without a lot of trouble. They don't have any response except to use Chrome and to blame everybody else. A few months back they recommended Chrome or Edge, but this week it was only Chrome.

Thanks, though.
