Where did my history go? You all should have NOTIFIED us that we would need to prepare for your drastic change, it is difficult not having prior notice.

This was so unfair to make these drastic changes without prior notice. My entire history is gone and I lost a day with clients trying to retrieve my Bookmarks. This will cause many people to not want to donate to you all ever if we are going to be treated like this. My allegiance was full on, without question for Mozilla Firefox, but after this stunt, I can no longer pitch Mozilla Firefox the best above the rest. NOTHING IS THE SAME. And Why do I have to SIGN IN EACH AND EVERY TIME? No longer user friendly.

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

. . . history is gone . . . trying to retrieve my Bookmarks

What about the rest of your profile? Settings, passwords . . . .

Firefox automatically makes backups of the bookmarks. These are stored in the bookmarkbackups folder.

Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Restore. From the list, pick the file you want and click it.

The backups are stored in a jsonlz4 file named something like this; bookmarks-2016-06-29_1424_enD1GTH ya0JmicnYWg4V4g==.jsonlz4

In this example; 2016-06-29 = date created, 1424 = number of entries.
