Originally there was a dialogue box that appeared every time I commanded a message to be deleted. Included in the dialogue box was a "checkbox" that said uncheck if you do not want to see this message again. I want to restore this feature, even if only on a case by case basis. Also,I just would like to be to find where I can restore defaults globally.

The dialogue box appears when you Shift+Delete a message to bypass the Trash folder. To re-enable the box, see this post, which also explains how to restore the warning on emptying Trash.

To have a warning box when you Delete a message, install the ConfirmBeforeDelete add-on.

There is no global restoration of preferences to defaults. The closest way is to create a new profile with Profile Manager. To start PM, close TB, Winkey+R, type thunderbird.exe -p
