Thunderbird ceased allowing me to sort emails by date. The view/sort does not stay locked on date & descending. Rebooted system; nothing changed. Thunderbird is frozen and I am unable to access emails using Thunderbird. Cannot access local folders. Dropdown boxes are frozen too. This is VERY frustrating because I use my email often and prefer Thunderbird over Gmail's interface.

Has Thunderbird come back to life?

Are you using CCleaner? IT is known to delete the files Thunderbird uses to store certain user interface settings like the sort order of folders and the presence of the reading pane.
