The last 24 hours I've had trouble with some websites where clicking is required and firefox won't register the clicking. I've refreshed firefox and disabled all addons and plugins (it got slightly better, but still doesn't work properly), but I still can't use menues on web sites (like accessing the gmail signout menu or the google maps menu). Searching doesn't work on some sites (nothing happens if I type something in the google maps search bar and press enter, and once I've pressed enter I can't write anything no matter how many times I click the search bar). I'm using the most recent Firefix on a Widows10 laptop (I don't have this problem on any other computer nor if I run Firefox on Linux on the same laptop).

Is this with many sites, a few? Please provide public link(s) (no password) that we can check out. No Personal Information Please !

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

more options

Yes, the problem is still there even in safe mode.

www.gmail.com (though the problem isn't obvious until you try logging out, so you need to have a login to check it) maps.google.com is a very obvious one, as the zoom buttons (usually shown in the lower right corner) don't load at all and almost no button viewed on the site has any effect ("direction" work, but searching for the directions won't). If you click the menu button you won't get any menu (nothing happens at all). Hmmm.... Seems like clicking is working on most of the other sites I try now - but menus seem to give me trouble. For a moment it seemed like things were working everywhere and that only google stuff were bugged, but google translate (translate.google.com) works as far as I can see (just like youtube seems to do). (interesting that SOME menus seem to work in gmail as well - but not the signout menu)

best regards, Martin Kahnberg

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Firefox has been uninstalled and reinstalled, system has been cleaned (and restarted a couple of times just to be on the safe side)... I'm still having exactly the same problems with gmail and maps.google.com though. I can't log out from gmail and I can't view my contacts either, and maps.google.com is completely out of order. I can search now, but the map doesn't change to the place I search for (so if I'm viewing an area in Australia and search for a place in Europe the map will still show me the area in Australia - but if I zoom out using my mouse pad to get a world view there will be a pin in Europe for the place that I searched for). I've never had issues like these in the past, and I've been using netscape/mozilla/firefox for 20 years...

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) and then perform these steps:

In Firefox 54 and below:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
  3. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

In Firefox 55 and above:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the General panel.
  3. Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.
    Fx55Performance-disableHWA
  4. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  5. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

If the problem is resolved, you should check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in these Knowledge base articles:

Then restart.

Disabling hardware acceleration didn't change anything. I'll try the profile thingy now.

I created a new profile and started firefox using it. I was definitely using it, as it said "welcome to firefox" on loading and all bookmarks were missing. Neither maps.google.com nor gmail was working properly, though. (I used both sites on a desktop running widows 10 and Firefox 30 minutes ago without any trouble at all, so there has to be some kind of wierd thing on this laptop...)

Changed to the 32bit version, but the problem remains. Exactly the same behaviour.

"Using the IBM and #2 is off which is the better card but not know why it is off unless all the errors are it's but issues are here and Update Video card Drivers with a Clean Install only if can." I'm not really sure I understand this part, but I think you say that I'm using the wrong gfx card. I checked, and indeed I am using the wrong one (the integrated chipset instead of the nVidia card that I know I was using earlier). I don't know why it's been changed and I've tried to change it now, but the laptop keeps saying that it's using the intel chipset for the display. How on earth do I change which gfx card to use in the crappy widows10??? I've changed physX and 3D to nVidia, but I can't figure out any way to get the nVidia card to be the card used for the display (so if I choose "display settings" it keeps displaying the settings for the intel chipset that I don't want to use).
