The new Mozilla up-date is worse than before. ( no-script is not working also). I am getting more pop-ups than before up-date.
Can I have the up-dates, but keep the "good stuff" from before? ..... Can I revert back to my previous Firefox setup? It was better.

To add: I am now getting frustrating pop-up ads, where, before I wasn't. The "noScript" program is now different than before. I liked it better before.
Hello, download the new version of No-Script from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/
Edit: Try out umatrix https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/umatrix/
MkII... I don't know what Umatrix is.. (yet).... Also, it seems the "no-script" is different than before (?) I liked the other version better. Maybe the 'new version' of No-Script is the problem? ( I am not getting that yellow NoScript bar at the bottom anymore)

Many somewhat advanced Firefox users favor uMatrix over NoScript, but IMO there is a steep learning curve to using uMatrix and get the most out of it.
As far as a "bar" for NoScript this new Quantum Firefox with WebExtensions has changed "the game" in a big way for add-on developers. I am still trying to figure out how to use the "new" NoScript, so I can't help you.
My advice is to visit the NoScript fora for help with their extension: http://forums.informaction.com/viewforum.php?f=3 direct link to NoScript Support : https://forums.informaction.com/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=7c4f43a4b47664c3eabf390df188d116
If you are interested in uMatrix, I just saw a link to this: https://www.ghacks.net/2017/11/28/a-umatrix-guide-for-firefox/
Thanks for the info....
( just wondering....) If NoScript changed, why would they allow all the stupid pop-ups and the ads to return, when it was not there in the old version?? I see no place to remove them, like before. I see no icon for NoScript anywhere on my I Mac desktop. A window drops down to warn of scripts, but then it disappears. NO ICON.

You can but your question is vague. mountie said

Pop-ups aren't from FF that comes from sites you go to. Did you check to see if there was a update to it? Did you make sure to check the Addon setting if there was anything changed?
I checked out the 1st page of Umatrix... I read some of the questions/answers.... Are you kidding?? I am not a computer tech, to understand what they are talking about !! Also, they do say there is an alternative no script sort of site to use.
I just tried to post in a truck forum and I can't. BEFORE when that happened I could "allow" script to enable. Now, there is nowhere to "allow". WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD NOSCRIPT?? It was better !!!!!
No offense, but the "talk" in Umatrix has to be understandable & coach-able to plain folks.

The old NoScript does not work on Firefox 57 and never will be allowed to do so as Mozilla is not granting access to the areas they want due to security reasons.
This question has been asked and answered, multiple times. https://www.howtogeek.com/333230/why-firefox-had-to-kill-your-favorite-extension/
Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 and below is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Did you try the NoScript support forum for help, as I suggested?
I have never used a Mac and won't waste my time, or yours, guessing about the cause of the NoScript button going missing on a Mac. For me on Windows 7 when I installed Firefox 57 and installed NoScript - it appeared automatically, as it always has in the past.
Sorry, overall I can't help you with using the new WE version of NoScript in Firefox 57 as I have used Fx 57 for just a short time and have used it very little. Vastly different User Interface now that I don't care to deal with learning about at this time. I stopped being an "early adopter" of revolutionary versions of Firefox right after Firefox 4.0 came out back in March 2011. Been in a "retarded" adoption mode ever since.
edit: Forget to mention, popup ads are typically blocked by an ad blocker extension like uBlock Origin or Adblock Plus - with the correct block list "subscriptions" that both can use as those "blocklists" are compatible with both.
Firefox itself had been very effective for me for many years at blocking "normal" popup windows; and NoScript might block some that are generated from JavaScript code on the page or generated from an external linked server, many for delivering advertisements.
And if those popups seem to have started just recently, you may have picked up a dose of malware. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware
I currently have many older versions of Firefox installed and I am still using an older version when doing Firefox support. And a newer Fx 47 version that I use for almost all other activities on the internet, beyond software support fora. Losing all my extensions is a non-starter for me.
I "saw" this day coming over two years ago as Mozilla was changing the API's that extensions relied upon and started losing "my" add-ons one at at or multiple extensions at a time - starting with Firefox 34 and I drew a "line in the sand" with Firefox 38 ESR which is what I am using here and now.
I am in no hurry to configure Firefox Quantum - 3 months to 6 months is usually what it takes for me to full adopt a new major version of Firefox - until suitable replacement extensions become available. Or I may start using a different browser next year if those extensions are kust not permissible any longer. I have installed more different web browsers this year to see what is available as an alternative, than I have installed in the last 18 years. Of course there are so many choices now-a-days vs as recent as 10 years ago when a user really only had the Mozilla Suite, Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari, and the new Google Chrome was in development & available for "testing" if you knew where to get it.
