Hello All, I know how to turn off all location requests - that is not what my problem is. When I visit a website that wants permission to access my location, the pop-up to "block" or "allow" very rarely stays open long enough for me to click my choice! So I would like to know if anyone knows a way to make the pop-up slow down, or stay open UNTIL I click a choice. TIA!

I'm not sure why it clears so quickly. Usually it's there for several seconds. If you want to give the site permission to locate you precisely, there is another way:

While you are still on the site, you can call up the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog using any of these:

  • right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Permissions
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
  • click the padlock or "i" icon to the left of the site address, then the ">" icon, then More Information > Permissions

Near the top, you'll find "Access Your Location" and you can uncheck the "Use default" box and select the permission you prefer.

Then reload (e.g., Ctrl+ or click the reload arrow in the address bar) and the page should now be able to detect the changed permission.

Thank you! I will certainly do that. I'm marking this as solved, because it works... but I wish there was a setting for a set amount of time! Not kidding, sometimes it appears and is gone long before the page finishes loading.
