I've been using Firefox 43.0.1 until recently when a certain SSL certificate decided to not support firefox versions below 47 which forced me to update. Now I'm using 53.0.2 (64-bit) which then led to the problem of twitter videos showing errors instead. I checked the console and found it was suddenly bombarding me with errors that wasn't there before prior updating...

Things I've done: - clear cache - disable plugins - launch in safe-mode

Funny thing is when I go to the video URL firefox gives me a 404, but when I place the URL in my download manager it downloaded it just fine and was able to watch the video.

Forgot to mention that I can watch videos from youtube normally as well as twitch, ustream, and various other video streaming sites that use flash and html5. Only videos on twitter are breaking like this.

The Web Console shows an 404 error message, so there is something wrong with the MP4 links. You can try to paste the link in the location/address bar to see if that gives a more detailed error message. There are also CSP related error messages that look weird to me as they seem to refer to localhost.

OK, I tried one that shows an error in your screenshot and it works for me.

So it sounds that you have a content blocker active that is interfering. That could be an extension or security software that acts like a MITM.

What security software do you have?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

What security software do you have?

 - Been using Avira for years now and it hasn't updated yet so I don't think that's the cause of the problem.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions

 - As I've already said in my first post I've already tried safe mode. Also using the default theme.

I also noted that it works on Firefox 43.0.1 since it was my go to browser until SSL certificates decided it was too old of a versions... I tried reverting to 43.0.1 and twitter videos started to work again.

You can try a new profile since switching between Firefox version (downgrading) can cause files to get corrupted or prefs that aren't supported can cause issues as well.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Sorry just got back to doing this now, but unfortunately creating a new profile did not work. Restarting my PC every time it happens does though but I would rather not do that...

I seem to be able to duplicate the problem though. It seems to happen every time I close Firefox (using the x on the top right) and then a window pops up saying it crashed while closing. At that window there's an option that says to launch Firefox again and when I do that's when the videos on twitter stops working.

Not sure though why Firefox crashes when I close it and not when I use it though...
