Generally speaking, web content cannot open local files directly from disk (for example, by setting a frame to a disk-based URL). You usually need to use a file input to browse for and load the file (similar to the image upload below this text box I'm typing in).

I don't know whether the extension is causing the problem, but you could ask its author about how to make it work.
