My PC died and I could not boot from bootable flash drive.

I had been backing up the system with Acronis to a WD Passport.

I purchased a new computer, and when I did a restore, upon starting Firefox, I did not have my old bookmarks, which are many.

Aren't they stored in a backup? If so, how do I get them back. I'm sure that some of the bookmarks came over from Netscape Navigator.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob, how does Acronis work? Did it back up everything in your old

C:\Users\username

folder? Firefox data is under a hidden path, so as the first step, set Windows to display hidden files and folders:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-97fbc472-c603-9d90-91d0-1166d1d9f4b5

Then in your backup, look for:

x:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

Do you have stuff there which wasn't already restored?

Note: if your Windows username changed, there might also be some permission issues to clean up when copy/pasting stuff around.

First, thank you for your direction. I eventually found the bookmark backups, and after floundering awhile, and going to youtube to find out about cutting/pasting a jsonlz4 file, I was able to import from a backup file!

Acronis is a backup/restore program for Western Digital products. When I contacted WD about backup to my WD Passport, they had me install Acronis.

I'm keeping your mail for future referene.

Thanks,

Bob
