I know how to 'Customize' my tool bar to remove the search bar. What I don't understand is why it doesn't STAY gone...I mean, what's the point in being given the power to remove an unwanted option, just to have it come back each time you open a browser?
I NEVER use the search bar and just would like it to be gone. Yes, it's easy enough to drag it into the customization box and watch it go away, but every time you open the browser, it's right back there again.

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
