On a list of check-images from credit union, FF wants to save the resultant .cgi file...
instead of displaying the resultant image in the web browser. If I save the resultant .cgi script, I can run it and display the check image.
Chromium will properly display the resultant image from the returned cgi script.

This can happen if somehow the GET data (?xxx=xxx) that is needs to be evaluated by the CGI script gets lost.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Edit > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Yes, that is the first to do in case of errors with loading pages.
You can first try to bypass the cache via Ctrl+F5 and if that doesn't help clear the cookies from that site and give Ctrl+F5 another try. That is what I do.
