I cannot open a new tab in the firefox window

When I click on the new tab nothing will open. I have also tried right clicking on the tab and selecting open a new tab and doing control + T. None of those will open a new tab though, how do I fix this?

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
